Senior Director, Market Access Strategy Cross Portfolio , you are responsible for leading cross-portfolio and above brand efforts to ensure strategic alignment and execution of response to market and landscape changes, including The Inflation Reduction Act, Pharmaceutical Drug Pricing Boards, and large integrated and vertically aligned customers, and provide strategic guidance across all brands and multiple functions. You will also report to the Executive Director Market Access Strategy Cross Portfolio.
Specific Responsibilities: - Drive strategic thinking and recommendation of US Commercial response to IRA and PDAB and other policies as the environment changes
- Led cross-functional efforts and alignment to drive strategy across the US portfolio, working cross-functionally with Therapeutic Area Market Access strategy, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Legal, Global Value & Access, Government Pricing, and Contracting Operations on policy implications
- Coordinate contracting strategy execution for the largest cross-portfolio customers
- Steering a matrix team, influencing without authority, and communicating effectively with executives in recommending a path forward
- Demonstrate broad cross-functional leadership. As appropriate, partner with relevant functional experts and/or lead market research and analytic workstreams that support pricing, reimbursement, and access decisions
- Above brand tracking of industry/market WAC pricing trends and benchmarks
- Own the management, implementation, and approval governance of an overall WAC pricing framework with cross-functional collaboration
- Leading payer insights/access stakeholder insights to inform cross-portfolio strategy
Knowledge & Skills: - Our ideal candidate is strategically thoughtful and understands the critical role of pricing and market access in commercial strategy, particularly with respect to policy changes and large customer dynamics.
- In addition, the following capabilities are considered prerequisites:
- Solid understanding of the pricing and reimbursement landscape, including recent legislative trends
- Leadership experience, including managing contractors and vendors
- Exceptional Storytelling skills
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to distill and efficiently communicate complex analytics (both orally and in writing) across all levels of management
- Leadership skills and team/ people management experience, with experience leading cross-functional working groups through complex projects
- Experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary market research, especially among payers
- In-depth knowledge and experience in assessing opportunities within a complex reimbursement environment
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing and changing priorities. Must have strong task management skills to include planning, prioritization, objective setting, and meeting management and plan execution
- Balances exceptional technical expertise with strong strategic thinking and practical business orientation, including a firm grasp of complex analytics & modeling techniques that support a range of strategic decisions
- Strong knowledge of the roles of other functions (Managed Markets, Brand Marketing, Finance, Market Research, etc.) in order to develop and maintain effective partnerships
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines are required
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience
OR
Masters' Degree and Twelve Years' Experience
OR
PhD and Twelve Years' Experience
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree and 14 years experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or related industry (or 12 years with an advanced degree relevant to the role)
- An advanced degree is preferred
- 5+ years combining pricing/reimbursement, product strategy, market planning, and/or financial analysis experience
- Experience conducting secondary data, benchmarking analyses, and primary market research among payers, KOLs, and medical professionals is required.
- Depth of knowledge regarding quantitative data analytic techniques is preferred.
- Product launch experience is highly desired

The salary range for this position is: $255,425.00 - $330,550.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
