1st Assistant Golf Professional
Golf Course in Payson, Utah is looking for a 1st Assistant Golf Professional.
Position Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Golf Professional, assists the Golf Professional in managing and operating the City’s golf course. Establishes and monitors clubhouse operations. Markets the golf course to increase players, organize tournaments, and manage the retail environment of the Pro Shop.
Essential Duties:
• Assists in the supervision and scheduling of part-time and/or seasonal employees.
• Assist the Golf Pro in operating the Pro Shop.
• Responsible for the implementation of marketing strategies including season passes, special events, tournaments, and maintaining and updating golf course website and various social media sites.
• Oversees scheduling of tee times.
• Provide exceptional customer service, sales of season passes, and pro shop items.
• Schedule staff to cover all hours of operation.
• Perform basic merchandising functions such as selecting and ordering goods, determining sales price, and merchandise presentation.
• Collects and handles monies and fees assuring for accuracy and compliance with established financial controls. Perform daily cash register close outs.
• Assists the Golf Pro in the general operation of the golf course as needed.
• Addresses customer complaints and advises the Golf Pro about appropriate corrective actions taken.
• Oversees IT-related items and serves as the liaison with the City’s IT Department relative to the golf course’s technology needs and troubleshoots with the City’s IT Department to resolve problems.
• Enforces all Golf Pro Shop and Golf Course policies and procedures.
• Oversees junior golf camps.
Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Associate degree from an accredited college with emphasis in retail business environment preferred.
Two years’ experience in a retail business environment with associated golf course experience required.
Valid driver’s license.
Special Qualifications: Member of the Professional Golf Association or Registered in the PGA PGM Program and successfully passed Level 1.
Proficient in Outlook and Internet applications; word processing and spreadsheet applications, various graphic programs; golf instruction; operating assigned equipment; and monitoring and evaluating assigned golf programs.
Knowledge of: Customer service and marketing strategies; personnel administration; business administration; operational characteristics, services and activities of a municipal golf course;
recreational operations; principles and practices of golf shop operations; principles and practices of tournament development and administration, methods and techniques of teaching the game of golf;
rules and regulations of the game of golf; and the surrounding area such as local amenities, points of interest, etc.
Compensation:
$21.47 – $27.91 per hour.
