Job description

The Addiction- Behavioral Health Consultant (A-BHC)- Intern Superviso r is a licensed clinical psychologist or LMHC/LCSW certified as a supervisor who adheres to the highest standards of evidence-based medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times. The A-BHC-Intern Supervisor is responsible for the direct clinical and regulatory supervision of Addiction-Behavioral Health Consultant Intern(s) with an appropriate caseload of his/her own appropriate to the number of intern(s) being supervised. The A-BHC-Intern Supervisor provides direct behavioral health integration and behavioral health treatment to children, adolescents, adults and families in order to improve psychosocial function in a primary care setting. The A-BHC-Intern Supervisor also provides addiction and dual diagnosis treatment in the primary care setting.

Intern Supervisor Specific Functions:

Responsible for the direct clinical and regulatory supervision of Addiction-Behavioral Health Consultant Intern(s) with an appropriate caseload of his/her own appropriate to the number of intern(s) being supervised.

Responsible for understanding and adhering to all regulatory requirements for A-BHC supervision.

Prepares reports and presents to Leadership as on productivity and quality for A-BHC intern(s)

Addiction Specific Functions:

Provide treatment by evidence based therapeutic interventions in a substance use disorders clinic setting.

 

Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of behavioral health clients.

 

Provide effective treatment planning and assisting clients in successfully achieving goals.

 

Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions.

 

Actively participate in meetings that support C.L. Brumback/Health Care District integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for clients.

 

Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.

 

Assist the primary care team in developing care management processes such as the use of guidelines, disease management techniques, case management, and patient education to improve self-management of medical and psychiatric chronic disease.

 

Provide assessment, diagnosis according to DSM-V consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders.

 

Teach patients, families, and staff, care, prevention, and treatment enhancement techniques.

 

Monitor the site’s behavioral health program, identifying problems related to patient services and making recommendations for improvement while complying with all accrediting bodies applicable (DCF, state, federal regulations as well as standard of care).

 

Travel to all Clinic locations to provide coverage as needed

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Education:

Master’s degree or doctorate in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field required. If psychology is background, will need to have had an educational course in supervision or 1 years’ experience clinically supervising others at previous employment and maintain at least 1 CE every other year in Supervision. If an LMHC or LCSW, must have an official supervision certification in accordance with the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family therapy, and Mental Health Counseling.

 

Experience:

 

Three (3) years’ professional experience in treating alcohol and substance abuse in a health care setting required. At least one year employed as an Addiction-Behavioral Health Consultant and have been deemed clinically competent by clinical supervisors.

 

Certification:

 

Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) preferred.

Basic Life Support certification required

LMHC or LCSW must be a certified supervisor and show evidence of certification while maintaining all requirements by the Florida board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling.
