Mechanical Engineer (Humanoid)
Location
Palo Alto, CA | United States
Job description
Why Kind Humanoid
I have started building an intelligent humanoid because I could not think of a more intriguing challenge than reproducing human level motion capabilities and human level task solving intelligence. I’m building the company Kind Humanoid because we will deploy humanoids to provide additional labor to build an inspiring tomorrow, e.g. enable a cyclic economy, broaden access to care, and accelerate the transition to renewable energies.
If you also find yourself passionate about working out deep technical challenges in order to address society’s challenges we should talk. Here are some visuals of the current prototype in action. Your Role: As a mechanical engineer you will build the body of the robot.
Responsibilities
- As a mechanical engineer you will build the body of the robot:
- Build a body that achieves human level motion performance
- Take in inspiration from biology and find ways to reach bio performance
- Prototype fast in house with your own hands and focus on the unknowns first
- Design for mass production and low cost
Requirements
- Probably most important: You have been a tinkerer all your life and when you look at a mechanical structure you see how the forces flow, when you look at a tree you can model in your head how it bends under wind load, when you operate a machine you know how the internal compnents function on a fundamental level
- Master or PhD in related field
- Hands on prototyping experience using CNC and 3d printing methods and PCBs and assembly of electromechanical systems
- You have created something that would not have been created without you
- Experience with novel materials and systems with motion degrees of freedom
- Truly creative problem solving strategies, skills and attitude
- Passion for actually shipping a product that will improve peoples’ lives
- Your Drive: Be prepared to wear multiple hats and be ready to challenge yourself to deliver a solution faster than you estimated.
