Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. Marin Community Clinics is offering a Dental Assisting Trainee Program. The accelerated program allows a Dental Assistant Trainee to received on-the-job training, in addition to completing coursework on infection control, dental terminology, and radiology.
The Dental Assistant Trainee supports MCC's Dental team at all times and focuses on delivering excellent customer service to MCC's patients.
Responsibilities - Successfully complete coursework in Dental Terminology, Infection Control, and Radiology.
- Successful completion of Sterilization and Dental Assisting skills checklist
- Assists the dentist during dental treatment using four-handed dentistry.
- Greets and welcomes patients and visitors to practice with excellent customer services.
- Escorts patients to treatment room, seats patients and has proper set-up for procedure ready.
- Informs Dentists when patient is ready for treatment.
- Checks lab daily for necessary equipment to treat patients.
- Checks operatory for necessary armaments for patient visits and prepares next day supplies.
- Monitors supplies inventory and requests supplies as needed and stock treatment rooms at all times.
- Complies with all OSHA requirements, Dental Board, infection control practices and MCC policies.
- Prepares dental units for Dentists, stocks units, and ensures that units are clean at all times.
- Oversees cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures.
- Disinfects treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations and infection control practices.
- Sterilizes all instruments and headpieces according to OSHA regulations and sterilization procedure.
- Organizes trays, instruments and treatment room drawers at all times.
- Follows office sterilization procedures and completes logs as required.
- Uses appropriate electronic charting techniques for maintaining and updating dental records.
- Sees that patients' records are stored securely per HIPPA guidelines.
- Assists in the administration of the recall system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education and Experience: - High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities :
- Ability to work in a fast paced Community Health Clinic environment.
- Bilingual skills (any language) a plus.
- Ability to multitask and follow directions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and written in English.
- Must be able to remain focused at all time to properly support Dental Providers.
- Must have legible handwriting for notations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with children of all ages
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: - May be required to occasionally lift at least 20 - 25lbs.
- Prolonged standing, stooping and reaching.
- Pinch grip.
