Job description

Impact Confections  is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance  Mechanic for its Janesville, Wisconsin facility. We are currently looking to fill a 1st and  2nd shift position. The hours are from 6:00am-3:00pm and  3pm-11pm Monday through Friday. Weekends may be required during peak season. 

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is an active role that supports the crafting of the tastiest sour candies in the world for customers and distributors throughout the nation.  The focus of the Maintenance Technician role is to proactively support the preventative and corrective maintenance activities by troubleshooting and repairing various machinery used in the candy making process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Following prepared work orders or responding to operator calls, safely troubleshoots and repairs a variety of production equipment.

Safely and efficiently perform preventive maintenance per equipment schedules.

Display a customer-centric focus through developing and fostering a respectful and professional relationship with co-workers in a team-based environment.

Write work orders and parts requisitions, as needed, as per PM inspections and routine maintenance.

Researches and specifies new replacement parts and mechanical improvements as needed.

Follows and observes all plant GMP, SQF and SOP rules and safety regulations.

Demonstrate a commitment to food safety and continuous improvements while performing daily assignments.

Other duties as assigned to help support coworkers and the production of the tastiest candies in the world.

Qualifications

Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent with 2 – 3 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing setting preferred.

Industrial electrical maintenance certification or equivalent proven experience and training.

Must possess ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Must possess physical capability to move freely throughout the facility, walk, stand, bend, use ladders, lift fifty pounds on regular basis, and operate powered machinery and tools.

 Education and/or Experience
Technical School Certificate or Associate’s Degree, plus 3 year’s related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language and Communication Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
Computer Skills, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel. Ability to learn other application software essential to performing job tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a food manufacturing environment or similar industry preferred.
