Description Methodist University seeks applicants for a 12month, full-time, tenure-track appointment to begin
July 2024 . The Department Chair will provide guidance, vision, and stewardship of the department's programs and activities to shape the direction of CHSHS and contribute to its success. The Department Chair supports the mission of CHSHS and the university by promoting high quality educational programs, scholarship, as well as professional, community, and university service. The position includes oversight of the developing Bachelor of Science Occupational Therapy Assistant program and fully accredited Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, with direct administration and management as the OTD program director. The position includes teaching graduate level occupational therapy courses in the applicant's area of expertise.
Methodist University is a private comprehensive institution grounded in the tradition of liberal arts. The Program is located in the Thomas R. McLean Health Sciences Building. The 38,800 square foot, contemporary facility has innovative classroom and laboratory spaces, research facilities, and an outdoor functional mobility courtyard to allow faculty to engage in hands-on learning activities and research agendas. Our program engages in active collaboration and learning with the DPT, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Social Work, and developing School of Medicine programs.

Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Earned doctorate level degree (Ph.D., OTD, or equivalent).
- Original certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and licensed for occupational therapy practice in North Carolina.
- Eight years of experience in occupational therapy at least three years of which is in a fulltime academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level that includes teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development
Expertise in Occupational Therapy as evidenced by: - Demonstrated experience in, and an ongoing commitment to creating and maintaining working and learning environments that are inclusive, equitable and welcoming.
- Experience in policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
- Knowledge of education and administration as well as current ACOTE standards and procedures relevant to the program.
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience as a program director, assistant director, academic fieldwork coordinator, or capstone coordinator
- Demonstrated evidence of research and scholarly activity, an understanding of clinical practice, and experience with OT and OTA partnerships
- Record of experience in administration, including financial and personnel management.
- Demonstrated success in leadership and mentoring.
