The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Job Summary:
Our team focuses on bringing together the best of biology, translational engineering, modeling and simulation, data science, and prototyping capabilities to develop cutting-edge transformative cell and gene delivery platforms. In this position the candidate will play a key role within a dynamic R&D team working at the interface of cell delivery and immunology research as they relate to macroencapsulation, immunoprotection, and other methods for alleviating or engineering the host response.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will make contributions in developing in vitro models of host response, particularly a high throughput platform in which to test new strategies for next-generation delivery technologies. Further, the candidate will support development of new delivery strategies to circumvent the immune system and improve cell survival. Day-to-day job duties include routine primary cell culture under aseptic conditions, perform in vitro assays for monitoring cell stress, viability, and performance including antibody immunostaining, ELISA, luminescent staining and cryosectioning.
