As a Wastewater OIT, Under direct supervision you will monitor the operations of wastewater systems at the Gallo-Livingston Wastewater facility. Conduct routine laboratory tests to validate optimal system functionality and engage in minor maintenance of the wastewater system.
What will you do:
• Monitors automated alarms/controls and maintaining electronic control and flow monitoring devices.
• Adjusts wastewater flows, draining water from clarifiers, operating pumps to transfer wastewater.
• Operates pumps, valves, chlorinators, telemetry controls, sludge presses and other water and wastewater flow regulating controls and equipment.
• Collects water samples and conducts predefined laboratory tests.
• Performs minor maintenance duties ensuring the optimized operation of the wastewater plant; reports system malfunctions to supervisor or maintenance engineers.
• Monitors reservoir levels and coordinates water storage, usage, and allotments; supports the inspection of pump stations and other related wastewater treatment facility equipment.
• Manually operates and adjusts wastewater treatment processing valves, gates, motors, pumps, and chemical feed systems.
• Engages in sludge treatment processes and conducts sludge disposal.
• Adds chemicals to water to effectively treat and discharge an effluent that consistently meets or exceeds all state and federal standards.
• Ensures the completion of a variety of reports as required by local, state and federal regulations
• Maintains daily operations logs for assigned shift.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations
What you will need:
• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 2 years of production or operations experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Required to work with caustic chemicals to execute some job functions.
• Required to work day, swing or graveyard shifts.
• Required to climb ladders and inspect the tops of tanks.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
• Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description
• Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What will set you apart:
• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of production or operations experience.
• Possession of a California Operator-in-Training certificate.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations for wastewater collection and treatment.
• Experience with SCADA systems
• Proficiency in basic MS Office applications
• Knowledge of chemical analysis and lab tests for wastewater treatment
• Understanding of wastewater treatment practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety regulations, experience in planning, supervising, and inspecting work
• Project management skills
• Strong leadership abilities
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents
• Proficiency in mathematical concepts and operations
• Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to carry out broad and difficult assignments
• Expertise in the area of specialization
Compensation:
• Hiring Salary Range Posted:$23.56 - $31.83/hour
• Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
