As a Senior Software Architect specializing in Distributed Systems for In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems, you will lead the architectural design, development, and strategic planning of a distributed network and microservices infrastructure. This role is open-minded and adaptive, allowing you to assess and recommend the most suitable technologies and solutions to meet IFEC requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the architectural design of scalable microservices for IFEC systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and scalability objectives
- Assess and recommend appropriate technologies and solutions, such as containerization, orchestration, service mesh, and messaging systems, to achieve architectural goals
- Define architectural guidelines and best practices for containerized applications
- Develop and implement security practices tailored to the unique requirements of IFEC distributed systems, including authentication, authorization, and encryption
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, IoT integration possibilities, and machine learning/AI applications that can enhance IFEC capabilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with architectural objectives and IFEC system requirements
- Stay informed about industry trends, microservices design patterns, and technology advancements to inform architectural decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in software architecture and distributed systems
- Demonstrate expertise in designing and architecting distributed systems, with an adaptable mindset to select suitable technologies
- Proficiency in evaluating and recommending technologies and solutions to meet specific architectural needs
- Knowledge of security best practices for distributed systems
- Familiarity with IoT technologies and their potential applications (a plus)
- Strong understanding of microservices design principles and how they can be effectively managed by using technologies such as Kubernetes
- Strong coding skills in languages such as JavaScript, Python, Go, or Java
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
