Job Summary
The Transporter provides safe, reliable, and courteous transportation to patients throughout the medical complex. The employee will receive training and must demonstrate competency in moving of patients, including neonatal, pediatric (birth - 11 years), adolescents (12 - 17 years), adults (18 - 65 years), and geriatric (66 years and older).
The Transporter must be knowledgeable of department/hospital policies and procedures. They will guide their own professional growth and continuing education.
• Ensures proper identification of patients prior to transport
• Maintains positive and professional relationships with patients
• Assists and transports patients effectively via wheelchair, bed, and stretcher,
• Follows established standards to transport isolation patients, when applicable
• Provides physical support to patients when ambulating
• Handles medical equipment safely while transporting
• Follows safety precautions and infection control techniques
• Performs clerical duties related to the acceptance of tasks and proper functioning of the department, including answering phones/voice mail, reporting and documentation on office log, run slips, and various sign-out logs
• Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community
• Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned
Education:
• High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
Experience:
• Prior hospital transport experience (preferred)
Certification:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
