About this position:
Manage the division construction engineers and estimators. Direct the activity of the contract construction engineers and estimators that are working in this area. The division construction engineers and contract engineers are responsible to engineer and oversee the construction of overhead and underground electric and natural gas construction projects in the division. Work with division leadership to ensure that construction projects are completed efficiently and in accordance with NorthWestern Energy policies and procedures.

About this job:
Responsible to ensure a safe working environment for all employees within their reporting responsibility
Work closely with local Operations and Engineering departments to ensure that work is done on schedule and as efficiently as possible
Work with Central Construction, Wildfire Operations, and Asset Management departments on work plan development and execution
Responsible to ensure that all work is done in compliance with the NorthWestern Energy Safety Manual and other appropriate codes, standards and processes
Ensures Construction Department operates within the expense budget and capital projects are completed as planned and within budget parameters
Will take the "on call duties" as assigned and will be available for other after hour assignments as situations dictate
Able to lead in day to day operations and is a change agent with skills and experience for innovation and implementation of new programs and processes
Community involvement in civic organizations and internal programs is encouraged
Occasional lifting of materials up to 30 pounds required
Travel required up to 25% of time. Mostly within the division. Little to some overnight required

Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
An engineering degree is required
A PE or the ability to acquire one within 18 months is preferred
Must possess strong communication skills: Interpersonal, written and oral
Must have a background in or practical working knowledge of all phases of natural gas and electric operations
Must have a general knowledge of the engineering, construction and operation of natural gas and electric transmission and distribution systems; knowledge of Company Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and their application and working knowledge of PSC rules and tariffs and their application to customers
Effective administration and leadership skills are required
Ability to supervise and direct the activities of several functions, direct reports, contractors, and coordinate diverse activities, delegate responsibilities efficiently
Promote and maintain a positive working environment
Strong computer skills required
Labor relations experience is desirable
