Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Tools Administrator to join our cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, configuring, and ensuring the optimal operation of cybersecurity tools and systems. This role involves a blend of technical acumen, analytical skills, and a proactive mindset to anticipate and mitigate potential security threats. Considering our growth in digital assets, customer data, and intellectual property that form the backbone of our operations, and the ever-present threat to them, we recognize the need to enhance our cybersecurity team with a dedicated Cybersecurity Tools Administrator. By bringing on a specialized Cybersecurity Tools Administrator, we will be better able to respond to the scaling demand for our security services to strengthen our state agency defense mechanisms against potential cyber threats.

This role is critical in managing and optimizing the suite of security tools that protect our networks, systems, and data from unauthorized access, ensuring our business continuity and the trust of our clients. With a dedicated administrator, our cybersecurity tools will be managed more efficiently and effectively. This role will ensure that our security infrastructure is always running optimally, with regular updates and adjustments made as needed.

This level of attention and expertise will free up Engineer and SOC staff to focus on their core responsibilities, increasing overall productivity.

Responsibilities: Administer, configure, and manage cybersecurity tools, including but not limited to load balancers, security patching, endpoint protection, and anti-virus software. Monitor security systems for anomalies and indicators of compromise and respond to security incidents promptly. Collaborate with Security Operations Center, Network Security teams, IT and network teams to implement security measures and best practices across the organization. Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve our security posture. Mentor others as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cybersecurity role with hands-on experience managing security tools Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proven ability to perform under pressure. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

A robust understanding of network infrastructure and security protocols. Demonstrated experience with cloud security principles and technologies.

Preferred Additional Skills & Certifications: Scripting Proficiency: Skill in scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell, aimed at automating tasks and analyzing threats. Possession of industry-recognized certifications, including but not limited to Security Plus and CompTIA, is highly desirable.
