Position: School-Based Rehabilitation Therapist 
Location: Elk Grove, CA

Summary: The School-Based Rehabilitation Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for students with disabilities by providing therapeutic interventions and support within the educational setting. They collaborate closely with educators, parents, and other healthcare professionals to address students' physical, developmental, and emotional needs, facilitating their participation in academic and social activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' motor skills, sensory processing, functional abilities, and adaptive behavior to determine individual needs and develop personalized intervention plans.

  2. Therapeutic Interventions: Plan and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve students' physical strength, coordination, mobility, and self-care skills, utilizing a variety of modalities and techniques tailored to each student's unique needs.

  3. Individual and Group Therapy: Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions to address students' specific goals and objectives, fostering independence, social interaction, and overall well-being.

  4. Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to integrate therapy goals and strategies into the educational curriculum and classroom routines. Provide ongoing consultation and support to teachers and staff regarding students' functional abilities and therapeutic needs.

  5. Documentation and Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcome measures. Monitor students' progress regularly, adjust intervention strategies as needed, and communicate progress updates to relevant stakeholders.

  6. Family Involvement: Engage families in the therapeutic process, providing education, training, and support to promote carryover of therapy goals and techniques in the home environment. Collaborate with parents to establish home-based strategies and routines that support students' progress and overall development.

  7. Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in pediatric rehabilitation therapy. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and training opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

  8. Advocacy: Advocate for the inclusion and accessibility of students with disabilities in the school environment. Promote awareness of the importance of rehabilitation therapy services in supporting academic achievement, social participation, and overall success for students with special needs.
