Job description

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Passaic and Union Counties is a nonprofit organization based in Wayne, NJ and with satellite offices in Elizabeth. CASA champions the best interests of children in the child welfare system by recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers from the community to be appointed to a specific child or sibling group by a Family Court Judge. CASA provides high-quality advocacy services to abused and neglected youth in the child welfare and family court system. We are committed to serving every child in need of an advocate. You have the opportunity to join this dynamic and powerful organization as a full-time Advocacy Case Supervisor covering both Passaic and Union counties.

The Advocacy Case Supervisor manages CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers to ensure that abused and neglected children in the foster care system receive effective advocacy and permanency planning. Additionally, the Advocacy Case Supervisor will assist the Outreach Coordinator and training team with the recruitment, screening, and training of bilingual community volunteers as needed.

Our Advocacy Supervisors are from diverse backgrounds and are the key professional support for our volunteer advocates. Our staff has worked as law guardians, prosecutors, child welfare workers, and teachers, in law firms, in customer service, in healthcare, in volunteer management, and a wide range of social service positions. All advocacy supervisors bring a deep passion for the children we serve and the volunteers that support them.

The Advocacy Case Supervisor will work with a team of up to 30 volunteers and their cases to deliver high-quality court-appointed advocacy services to children in foster care. The successful applicant for this position will be experienced in the family court and/or child welfare system. The candidate will be highly detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and able to think quickly on their feet.

The position requires attending regular court hearings, drafting and editing court reports, accompanying volunteers on home visits as needed, and supporting volunteers with regular office hours. Regular, detailed case documentation is required to maintain compliance with standards. The Advocacy Case Coordinator is the point of contact for all child welfare stakeholders and the main support for the volunteer advocate. Successful candidates must be flexible to attend occasional evening and weekend trainings and organizational events.
