Summary

Working under the direct supervision of Healthcare Technology Management Leadership the Imagining Equipment Specialist provides expert-level experience in the repair, calibration, and maintenance of medical imaging equipment, instrumentation and support systems used in healthcare delivery. Additionally, the Specialist will execute professional-level inventory assessment/audits and preventive maintenance of medical imaging equipment providing remedial corrective maintenance and maintain documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed on imaging equipment. All work is completed in accordance with Departmental and UT Southwestern policies and procedures as well as The Joint Commission requirements. Works under supervision of designated team lead and/or Supervisor. 

Experience and Education

· Completion of Associates Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Clinical or Electrical Engineering, or similar field, OR Applicable Military Training and experience.

·4 plus years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted).

· Successful completion and maintenance of CBET certification (Certified Biomedical Engineering Technician) preferred.

· Must have a valid State of Texas Driver’s License.

Job Duties

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Excellent judgment, professionalism, leadership, and customer service skills.

· Knowledge of electronic circuitry and technical aspects of the operation, repair and maintenance of electronic

equipment.

· Knowledge of the application of computers and servers and how they interface with medical equipment.

· Knowledge of networking theory.

· Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.

· Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.

· Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.

· Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections.

· Ability to run diagnostic programs.

· Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation.

· Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and test.

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment; to push/pull equipment carts; to kneel, stand, bend, and reach

during equipment repair.

· Skill in testing electronic equipment.

· Skill in manual dexterity, hand to-to-eye coordination, and color vision.

· Ability to interact and communicate respectfully with diverse populations and cultures.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.

· Ability to work independently to prioritize, implement, and complete projects with minimal supervision.

· Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

· Superior interpersonal and leadership skills; proven ability to develop and motivate employees to meet and exceed performance standards.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment.
