Position Summary:
The Manager, Pharmacy Operations will provide oversight of daily pharmacy operations, reporting to the Director of Pharmacy/Pharmacist-in-Charge. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, accreditation, and licensure requirements, and providing leadership in pharmacy operations, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, drug procurement and inventory management, drug diversion prevention, fiscal accountability, and scheduling and staffing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive program to ensure compliance with USP797 regulatory standards
- Serve as Designated Person for all sterile and non-sterile compounding, including hazardous compounding
- Create and maintain pharmacy operations policies and procedures
- Participate in medication management to ensure adherence to accreditation standards
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice
- Oversee drug procurement, storage, inventory management, and dispensing procedures
- Optimize Omnicell utilization and participate in controlled substance inventories
- Manage drug diversion prevention and monitoring activities
- Ensure proper handling and accountability for expired drugs and drug waste
- Design and manage department training programs for staff orientation and training
Qualifications:
- Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, advanced degree preferred
- ASAP-accredited residency (PGY1/PGY2) preferred
- Registered Pharmacist license in West Virginia
- Minimum five years of practice experience in acute care pharmacy, including USP 797, 795, and 800 experience
- Three years of pharmacy automation experience
- Three years of experience with controlled substance diversion investigations
