Job description
Emerge, a global talent solutions company, is actively recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Process Engineer position in Hampton, VA. Our client, an aerospace manufacturer comprised of innovators and makers, operates a cutting-edge investment casting facility. We seek individuals with a background in Metallurgy or Materials Engineering. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for all metallurgical/materials characteristics related to the investment casting process and the client's products, encompassing new developments and production castings. Collaborating with a partner Product Engineer who manages the dimensional aspects, your primary responsibility is to engineer the highest yield and lowest overall cost product, meeting or exceeding customer-defined quality requirements. This hands-on position operates within a team environment, requiring self-directed individuals with a forward-thinking mindset, passion for innovation, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities for the Process Engineer position in Hampton, VA include:
- Oversight of all metallurgical/materials characteristics related to the investment casting process and our products, involving both new development and production castings.
- Engineering the highest yield and lowest overall cost product while meeting or exceeding all customer-defined quality requirements.
- Development and debugging of processes for production and developmental castings.
- Actively pursuing continuous improvement of existing processes.
- Providing technical support to customers and interacting with them regarding technical concerns.
- Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, effectively writing reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Applying mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Driving improvement in the assigned portfolio of parts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Investment casting experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Engineering or a related field, not including college or internships
- Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility is required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), requiring U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
- Knowledge of Mini-tab, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Desired leadership ability, as this position benefits from being an influential engineer, and demonstrated leadership is a plus for potential advancement in 2-4 years.
- Familiarity/working knowledge with 3D modeling preferred (SolidWorks and/or ProCAST preferred).
