Each year, Volvo Cars welcome students as Summer Interns to our site in Charleston, SC. Spending a few months in our team is a great way for you to get an insight to what life at Volvo Cars can be like and gives you a basic understanding of our operations. It also provides you with a strong network in our organization, which can be of value in your future career. The number of Summer intern positions and work areas varies from year to year.
Program Summary:
About the program:
The Student Internship Program at Volvo Cars in Charleston is designed to introduce students to the fast paced, high tech, and ever changing industry of automotive manufacturing. In this program students will receive direct hands on learning experiences and a deeper understanding of lean principles and lean manufacturing processes.
We offer paid full-time work and a safe learning environment, for our interns to practice applying the knowledge gained in the classroom in a professional environment.
Department Summary:
At Finance, you are part of a global team that drives business performance in order to realize the objectives set out in Volvo Car Group’s Corporate Strategy. In cooperation with colleagues in other business units worldwide, you are part of a team providing financial expertise, business controlling and guidance. As part of the Finance Global Delivery team, you will get an opportunity to develop and implement smart and nimble finance processes, create excellent reports and analysis to support the business in the best way. Through networking and benchmarking you will be part of taking the Finance organization into a modern organization, ready to meet the challenges ahead of us.
A day in the life:
• Download check copies and upload to teams
• Download and upload bank statements
• Send documents to terminated dealers
• Intercompany account clearing – download raw data
• Sundry invoice upload
• Ad hoc project o Help with process reconciliations
o Ongoing projects are in duty/customs
Educational Preferences:
• Preferred areas of study: Accounting
• Level of education: Junior year of college or above
