Job description
We are an independent school in Bellevue, WA that has been in operation since 1985 and cater specifically to gifted learners. We are an NWAIS accredited school that provides a challenging curriculum and our students for long-term success.
Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all accounting and financial management functions within the organization, including fund accounting, general ledger, and compliance with GAAP. The position requires the ability to provide accurate and timely financial information and ensure proper internal controls. This position reports to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of daily financial operations
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Record fund allocations and allocations made to other organizations/partners
- Complete monthly account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze budgets
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Assist with grant tracking and reporting
- Perform monthly closing duties and review all financial reports
- Provide advice about operational activities and procedures
- Identify and resolve accounting issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
- 3+ years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a non-profit setting
- Knowledge of fund accounting and GAAP
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with MS Office and accounting software
