Position Summary:

The Department of Animal Sciences at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, invites applications from outstanding individuals to work as a Research Associate on a calendar year basis in the laboratory of Dr. Igor Shmarakov.


The Department of Animal Sciences, Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, has an opening for a Research Associate to join a multi-disciplinary project with the necessary laboratory training and experience for establishing an independent research career. The focus of the research will involve in-depth molecular studies aimed at exploring the metabolic consequences of vitamin A transport and how local vitamin A stores are acquired, metabolized, and processed to mount protective cellular responses in the adult lung during acute lung injury. Furthermore, this individual will train undergraduate, graduate and junior postdoctoral students in research-related topics when appropriate.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Applicant must have a minimum of a Ph.D. degree, a minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience, be a U.S. citizen or provide work eligibility documents if foreign-born.
