Job description
Lighthouse Lab Services is currently representing an independent clinical laboratory located in the vibrant Miami, FL area, dedicated to providing high-quality diagnostic services to healthcare providers and patients. This laboratory specializes in molecular Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) testing, utilizing cutting-edge technology to deliver accurate and timely results. We are seeking a skilled Molecular NGS Technologist to join this dynamic team.
Job Description:
As a Molecular NGS Technologist, you will play a crucial role in performing and overseeing molecular NGS testing procedures within the laboratory. You will be responsible for executing laboratory protocols, maintaining quality control measures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires a high level of technical expertise in molecular biology, particularly in NGS methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct molecular NGS testing procedures according to established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
2. Perform sample preparation, library preparation, and sequencing using NGS platforms.
3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
4. Analyze and interpret NGS data, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
5. Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and quality control documentation.
6. Collaborate with other laboratory staff to optimize workflows and improve efficiency.
7. Adhere to strict safety guidelines and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
8. Stay current with advancements in molecular biology and NGS technologies through continuous education and training.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, or related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, with specific experience in molecular NGS testing.
3. Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, and sequencing.
4. Proficiency in operating NGS platforms such as Illumina or Ion Torrent.
5. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
6. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
7. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
8. Commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, etc.).
