Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing professional nursing role in primary care setting. Assesses and arranges care for patients.
Assists with direct patient care. Consults provider as necessary.

Position Accountabilities:

• Assists with direct patient care, including, but not limited to, recording patient history, vital signs
• Assists with office-based procedures and treatments
• Assesses the walk-in patient and arranges appropriate care
• Interacts with other staff to facilitate quality patient care
• Assists with administration of medication, including oral, injectable, or IV push. Start and monitor IV’s, draw blood of administer medication to those patients with vascular access devices
• Coordinates assigned duties of emergency care as outlined by code blue policy
• Discusses and educates patients regarding diagnostic test results as directed by the physician
• Coordinates care with Case Managers as necessary
• Advises patients regarding health concerns
• Assesses patient’s understanding of, and agreement with, advice, and refers to patient’s primary care provider for follow-up if indicated
• Develops and implements telephone advice guidelines in collaboration with providers
• Responsibilities may include in-services and patient education, nursing functions based on the individual’s training and experience, attending departmental and other meetings
• Other duties as assigned by manager

Job Specifications:

• Registered professional nurse, in Kansas or Missouri, as applicable
• BCLS certified
• Good verbal and written skills
• Basic computer functions

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

• Sitting, standing and walking
• Lifting in excess of 50 pounds
• Frequent exposure to biohazards
