Shift : Days (7AM - 3PM)
Primary Care Nurse Practitioner:
Nurse Practitioners provide general and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests, prescribe medication, and provide counseling for elderly patients (55+) and their families.
Job Summary:
Responsible for providing primary healthcare to patients and families, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and counseling. Works under the direct supervision of a physician following established guidelines as required and within the established scope of practice.
Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of New Mexico
- Current Nurse Practitioner's License in the State of New Mexico
- Specialization in Family Medicine
Job Duties: - Demonstrates the ability to perform physical exams on all patients.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
- Always applies standardized care guidelines in clinical practice.
- Provides patients and/or families with health education, counseling, and referrals to other healthcare professionals and community resources when appropriate.
- Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health team to plan optimal care for the patient.
- Works with the patient and family to formulate a patient treatment and education plan.
- Provides follow-up care, determines the effectiveness of the treatment plan, and reassesses and changes the plan as needed.
- Stays current with medical advancements, new technology, new drugs through continuing education classes, society meetings, professional journals etc.
