Job description
Willamette Valley Vineyards is looking for a sales-driven, entrepreneurial leader in a General Manager to oversee multiple locations in the Portland-Metro area for our growing company. The position requires site visits to multiple locations in a specific area, and overseeing the locations and the daily operation.
The Portland-Metro Area General Manager Position Overview:
The General Manager role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest service experience, driving sales, establishing relationships within the community, and overseeing the training and development of employees within the team. Acting as a managing partner with limited supervision, this leadership role has the determination and dedication in contributing to the success of our Portland-Metro area establishments.

General Manager Duties:
- Oversees all day-to-day operations and guest experiences including the Tasting Room, Wine Club Membership, Hospitality, and Kitchen.
- Help develop our brand into a globally recognized wine and culinary travel destination in Oregon through engaging experiences, education and superior service.
- Build a customer-centric culture by listening to guests, reviews and feedback.
- Build strong Wine Club membership with focus on offerings, benefits, and member satisfaction.
- Develop wine enthusiasts into Winery Owners, and provide superior experience for Owners to celebrate their ownership with our winery.
- Responsible for supervising and managing Front and Back of House employees while providing.
- Provides training and development for employees in regards to day-to-day operations, Step of Service, Health and Safety Protocols, Policies and Procedure, etc.
- Floor service and supervision during peak days and hours of service.
- Holds weekly employee meetings, schedules with our software, has payroll approval oversight, development of individual work plans, development and enforcement of annual reviews.
- Develop and implement local level marketing strategies including but not limited to: community relationships, social media, and other local media outlets.
- Prepares annual budget, and implements budget by meeting sales goals and controlling expenses. Reviews financials and reports on any areas of concern.
- Tracks and makes visible key performance indicators and operational metrics in a dashboard visible to the Development Director and CEO weekly, monthly, and annually.
- Works with regulatory agencies as needed to ensure all employees are following local fire, EMS, OLCC, DEQ, Health Department regulations and rules/laws.
- Ensures that direct reports maintain all appropriate inventory supplies on a daily, weekly and month-end schedule.
- Works closely with the team to regularly ensure cleanliness, orderliness of furnishings and displays, and addresses repair and maintenance issues with facilities.
- Approves invoices up to spending limit weekly, and creates purchase orders for approval.
- Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Collaborates with all department managers towards profitability and helps drive the vision and mission of this company.
- Recommend and implement sustainability and “green” practices that improve the company’s positive impact on the environment.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Development Director and/or CEO.
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of retail, restaurant, or hospitality management experience.
- Must have a valid OLCC Servers Permit and Food Handlers Card.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift and carry 40lbs, and work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be available to work peak tourism and traffic times including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
- Have effective project management skills; ability to plan, organize, and follow-through with attention to detail.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional written and oral interpersonal communications skills. Proficient in Microsoft software products, apps and customer relationship management software.
- Exhibit a high degree of emotional intelligence, self-awareness and vulnerability.
- Exemplify supervisory skills, including the ability to lead and delegate tasks with effective follow-up.
