Electrician II Location Amarillo, TX : Position Information Requisition Number S2163P Position Title Electrician II Salary $30.00/hr Division Facilities Department 1252 - Facilities - Admin/Maintenance Location Planning Employment Type Full Time Hours/Days Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. FLSA Status Non-Exempt Classified/Unclassified Classified Grant Funded No SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, this position coordinates, oversees, and performs routine maintenance and construction work on electrical equipment. Duties include repairing, replacing or relocating equipment in accordance with National Electrical Code and Safety Requirements; supervising and assisting Electrician I's with installations, trouble shooting, and maintenance of electrical equipment; working closely with Building Maintenance personnel; and keeping the Facilities Manager informed of all work assignments, equipment needs, and personnel issues. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety equipment required for safe performance of duties, including gloves, goggles, hardhats, breathing devices, etc.
  • Ability to operate Volt-amp meter, Electrical hand tools, Ram set, Capacitor tester, Megger, Telephone hand set, Volt-amp recording equipment
  • Ability to operate variety of bucket trucks, Aerial trucks, Forklifts and Ditching equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of drawings, schematics, and electrical standards.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Code Requirements.
  • Ability to trouble shoot control circuits, motors, VFD's, lights, and other equipment not functioning properly.
  • Has working knowledge on control circuits, motor starters, heating and air conditioning controls, etc.
  • Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill.
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
Licenses/Certification Required Qualifications Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of experience in commercial/industrial construction and electrical maintenance, including motor control theory and five years supervisory experience. Must be licensed by the State of Texas as a Master Electrician. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License, required. Due to the level of access needed in this position, you must be willing to be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background check. Must pass all background checks. “The City may consider all related education and/or experience in determining an applicant's minimum qualifications and starting salary.” Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Ability and coordination to climb ladders, scaffolds, poles and/or towers up to 115 feet tall. Must possess excellent balance and hand/eye coordination. Must be able to work in close, confining, and uncomfortable positions with equipment energized as well as high, open areas that are subject to weather extreme. Working conditions may include excessive noise areas, dirty conditions, hot and cold weather extremes. Some ditch work may be required. A considerable amount of overhead work involved. Frequent lifting and carrying of materials, equipment and tools up to 100 pounds.
