We here at the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) have created a new role, the Assistant Director of Meetings & Events, where you’ll have an enormous impact on not just our association, but the many members we have across the country that positively impact outcomes for millions of college students, graduates, and employers.

What you’ll do

You’ll oversee the development and execution of NACE’s (in-person and virtual) meetings and events.Being that this is our main revenue driver to allow us to do what we do, you’ll handle everything from event project management, budgeting, vendor contract negotiation and relationship management, to reporting. Day to day some of the things you can expect to do are:

• Develop strategic vision and serve as a hands-on implementer for NACE meetings and events (e.g. Annual Conference, Competency Symposium, HBCU Summit, Roundtables/ Convenings, Coaching Programs, Management Leadership Institute).
• Lead sourcing and oversee planning for both in-person and virtual events.
• Leverage project management tools leading the planning and execution of all NACE events and meetings.
• Oversee planning and negotiation of contracts and on-site event operations for NACE events.
• Support the development of the meetings’ budget annually, including income and expense forecasts, and that revenue and expense goals are met, recommending adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with marketing to support strategic marketing and promotion of all events.
• Work with IT department, determining technology-based services needed in support of the conference in advance, on-site, and post meeting.
• Partner with the Professional Development team to design and deliver event evaluations.
• Identify and implement strategic program enhancements using evaluation data and trends analysis to maximize program growth and ensure a high-quality experience for attendees and exhibitors.
• Manage and develop Events Manager and the Education and Events Coordinator; determining workload priorities.

What you need to thrive in this role

• Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, education, business, non-profit management, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of professional association management experience with an emphasis on meeting planning preferred. Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) and/or Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification preferred.
• Strong project management skills. Ability to leverage technology to manage large-scale team projects.
• Thrives in a collaborative environment.
• The ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with NACE members and staff and present a positive image of NACE.
• Advanced PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and survey-writing packages, and ability and willingness to learn new software and programs as required.
• Collaborative, supportive, and highly adaptable.
• Travel about 20-25% of the time.
• This role is fully remote. You’ll have the ability to work from almost anywhere, though preference will be given to those in the Eastern or Central time zones.
