The Cocoa Frameworks CoreUI team is responsible for the tools and runtime services for Asset Catalogs, a developer feature enabling efficient delivery of application artwork resources and graphics and data assets on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV. We think carefully about how application data should be structured and deployed to users, forming the backbone behind initiatives like app thinning, app icons and SF Symbols. Our team works closely with the AppKit, UIKit, and SwiftUI teams to ensure a robust developer story around access to image and data assets, with a special focus on performance and space efficiency.
Key Qualifications
- Strong engineering and debugging skills and a solid grasp of OS fundamentals
- Good understanding of computer graphics fundamentals
- Familiarity with implementation details and tradeoffs of image compression formats
- Ability to work collaboratively to improve designs and code
- Solid understanding of one or more of Swift, Objective-C, C, C++
- Experience with Cocoa / Cocoa Touch / SwiftUI API
- Experience designing reusable API and object-oriented design
Description
The CoreUI team is looking for an outstanding engineer who seeks to have a major impact on the way applications are structured and delivered across all of Apple’s devices. You will become part of a small team whose goal is to advance the state of the art in the technologies and tools needed to realize high quality user interface designs and provide an optimized experience to each device. Candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation and packaging of advanced image storage and runtime rendering code, in addition to contributing to the evolution of the Cocoa Frameworks. Candidate will contribute directly to the artwork engine responsible for the look and feel of the Mac. Strong software engineering skills, intimate awareness of object-oriented design, a passion for user interface, and pride in attention to detail are expected.
Education & Experience
BS OR MS in Computer Science or Equivalent Industry experience

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $116,105.60 and $208,300.00 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
