Duties & Responsibilities
- The biological technician helps set-up new field research projects and short-term field surveys.
- Job duties require the collection of field data for plant and animal surveys.
- Works independently, as well as with a team of other natural resource specialists to complete project work.
- Assists in the preparation and writing of reports while applying scientific knowledge of intermountain region flora and fauna to interpret and present results of field and desktop studies.
- Maintains current and accurate records and documentation of work performed.
- Keeps the Project Manager informed of progress and documentation of field activities.
- Completes daily progress reports and daily coordination calls as needed. Completes and organizes field data sheets for all field work completed.
- Job duties entail using a compass, global positioning system devices, binoculars, and digital cameras as well as the ability to maintain equipment. Training will be provided for all survey efforts and job-related activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in biology, botany, wildlife, environmental science, or other similar programs.
- At least two years relevant experience.
- Some knowledge of intermountain west flora and fauna.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when faced with unexpected circumstances.
- Ability to work efficiently and safely.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to travel when needed to isolated field sites. Some overnight camping may be required.
- Ability to work independently in remote field settings in a variety of weather conditions, including inclement weather.
- Ability to walk/hike for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours/day) over varied and rugged terrain.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass pre-employment and post-employment drug and alcohol tests.
