Job Description
The Hardware Engineer role develops and executes test systems for components, subsystems, and unit testing of electrical systems. This includes hardware and software development and integration, design of PCBs, fabrication and assembly management with vendors and contract manufacturers, and inventory management. The role also is deeply embedded in the design control process, including requirements generation, verification, and validation.
Responsibilities include:
- Hardware development for the testing of electrical components and subsystems within medical imaging systems.
- Perform the characterization and verification of components and subsystems.
- Verification of system requirements, and report generation.
- Inventory management of hardware components for development system builds.
- Printed circuit board design and layout. Fabrication and assembly vendor management.
- Create bench-level experimental setups and interfaces to collect data.
- Code generation for test setups, user interfaces for debugging, and automation of characterization routines.
Qualifications
Required skills/qualities/experiences:
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Hands-on experience with CAD design and layout, preferably using spice simulator and Altium
- Hands-on experience of testing microelectronic components and systems
- Lab experience with instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition boards, etc.) and circuit debugging experience
- Hands-on experience with systems using FPGAs or microcontrollers
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and technical analyses
- Able to program in Python
- The position is located in greater St. Louis, MO, must be willing to relocate
- Industry experience creating detailed test documentation (plans, protocols, reports)
Preferred skills/qualifications
- MS in Electrical Engineering or 7+ years of experience in industry
- Previous ownership of requirements generation
- Product verification efforts for medical device products, including building and maintaining test/calibration systems
- Able to program proficiently in Python or C/C++
- Experience collaborating with or managing outside vendors to specify, develop, and qualify test solutions
