Job Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and managing all aspects of Nursing and Treatment Advocate departments for substance abuse treatment facility. Responsible for ensuring that all medical services are delivered in accordance with established standards and regulations in compliance with license and credentialing requirements. Will obtain and manage all medical services contracts and vendors for facility. Works with multi-disciplinary departments to ensure and facilitate compliance with all Quality Assurance and Improvement standards and parameters. Will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to Nursing and Treatment Advocate staff, in collaboration with the medical team, to optimize and accomplish organizational goals and benchmarks.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage and oversee all aspects of facility Nursing and Treatment Advocate departments in coordination with the Medical Director and facility CEO.
- Supervise all nursing staff to ensure that all medical documentation and medical care requirements are met pursuant to regulatory standards and practice and is in compliance with all licensing and credentialing regulations and standards, including but not limited to Nursing assessments, shift reports, and other required nursing documentation.
- Provide regular inspection of medical charts (open and closed) to ensure compliance with QI & QA policies & procedures, as well as all other regulatory, funding, and clinical and medical standards.
- Supervise, monitor, and document staff delivery of all medical services.
- Ensure all required detox services and protocols are met and delivered in a timely manner and pursuant to regulatory standards and requirements.
- Obtain and manage all medical services and vendor contracts.
- Meet with multi-disciplinary leaders on a daily basis to report any facility/staff/or client concerns or problems.
- Uphold all licensure and credentialing policies and procedures, especially as it relates to the medical aspect of treatment.
- Work in conjunction with onsite pharmacist or contract pharmacist regarding medication oversight and destruction of medication.
- Responsible for recommending and ensuring regulatory staffing patterns & managing annual budget.
- Ensure that shifts are covered by all levels of staff and that staff are actively involved in the medical treatment, admission and census process and aware of all elements of its implementation.
- Ensure that all client medical needs and appointments are maintained and kept on a timely basis.
- Ensure that the appropriate number of client cases is presented at each Multi-Disciplinary Team Meeting and that current and accurate medical information and medical appointments and specific medical developments is reported thoroughly and completely.
- Develop and Implement departmental policies and procedures as needed to address client and/or staff issues and needs.
- Ensure that all departmental staff and contractors comply with HR and personnel policies and procedures.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to supervisory level personnel as needed to help maximize managerial performance and ability.
- Responsible and accountable for management and development of direct and indirect reports, including Nursing team, LPN team, Treatment Advocate team, and Phlebotomist(s). This includes regular chart audits, video surveillance as assigned, and providing subsequent training and management required to improve any staff deficiencies.
- Preparation and presentation of performance evaluations.
- Provides objective feedback to employees.
- Makes appropriate compensation recommendations, if applicable.
- Provides appropriate training and competency assessment for department and hold staff accountable for attending required training.
- Holds interviews for vacant positions and makes appropriately selects candidates to fill open positions.
- Responsible for recommending and ensuring regulatory staffing patterns & managing annual budget.
- Monitors adherence to company and department policies, procedures and practices
- Creates and supports a positive, professional, team-oriented, harassment free work environment by understanding and complying with the company’s policies.
- Acting as the primary Client Advocate for the facility, drive the client experience, including meeting new clients to engage in care, checking in with clients at multiple levels of care to ensure client needs are addressed timely, and following up on client concerns or grievances.
- Participate in morning meeting to ensure continuity of client care.
- Participate in group activities for clients as assigned.
- Provide oversite of required drills and complete incident review as assigned, functioning as the designated facility Safety Officer.
- Other duties as assigned
Education/ Experience:
- BSN required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Ten years experience as a Registered Nurse required, including five years in a management, supervisory, or director level role in a treatment facility or hospital setting.
- Three years of addiction experience preferred.
- Experience managing an infection control program required.
- Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Certifications and Licenses:
- Active RN license in the state of practice required.
- Current BLS certification directly from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required.
- Addiction Certification preferred
