Job description

Perform accounting support functions for commercial properties and properties under redevelopment/construction consisting of office, retail, industrial, and garage space. The role also serves to support the company’s Risk Management function. Due to company growth, the accounting department needs an individual to aid in the Property and Portfolio level capital close process, provide companywide capital reporting, implement and update various process procedures and work on implementing the risk management insurance system tools. The Analyst will report to and work closely with the Fixed Asset Manager.

• Handle monthly capital close process, including subledger reconciliations and fixed asset adjustments for our Property, Corporate, and Portfolio accounting teams.
• Set up capital jobs in the accounting system through review of executed deals and requests from Property Managers.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly entries including construction management fee, impairment, purchase accounting, and held-for-sale entries.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly schedules for capital review, lease liability and renovation date reporting.
• Implement new risk management system and perform administrative duties with regards to adding property locations, creating and updating relevant fields, and developing workflows and reporting.
• Assist with the review of quarterly insurance adjustments, premium allocations, and tracking of invoice payments and refunds.
• Review annual commercial property and GL/Umbrella policy updates and coordinate with property management, tenants and corporate employees on policy changes.
• Work closely with compliance specialists on Lender, Contract and Lease specific insurance requirements
• Ad-hoc special projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business/Accounting with 3.0 minimum GPA.
• Basic understanding of general ledger activity, preference with Yardi application.
• Proficiency with Excel and other MS applications.
• 2+ years of experience within the commercial real estate industry.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Must be team oriented and a problem solver.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external teams.
