Product Manager, Cleco - US - Lexington, SC

The Blueprint (Role Profile)


Apex Tool Group is currently looking for a Product Manager for our Cordless Fastening Tools based in Lexington, SC. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a complete portfolio of Cleco Cordless electric fastening tools used in industrial manufacturing and assembly environments. This includes managing the entire product life cycle for each product within the product line and evaluating revenue and profit margin to ensure a balanced portfolio. The Product Manager is also responsible for product requirement definitions, pricing, and product positioning based on market research, sales, and customer feedback in all regions for new and current products.


The Product Manager, Cordless reports to the Director, Marketing, Cordless. They will interact with the GPT Marketing department, MarCom, R&D, our sales team, and customers. The Product Manager is the company's trend watcher for his/her product line and is heavily involved in and will sometimes lead the new product development process. Innovation, creativity, and quality will drive day to day work.

The Build (Responsibilities)


• Conduct Voice of Customer (VOC) initiatives to identify opportunities for new products, product line adjacencies, and product improvements


• Prepare and deliver product trainings for sales/channel associates and customers as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)


• Follow the CDI (Customer Driven Innovation) process to generate fewer, bigger, better products


• Conduct profitability and life cycle review of all products within product line


• Participant and valued contributor on new product development team regarding assigned product line


• Collaborate closely with the R&D team during the entire product definition and product development phases


• Collaborate with the Marcom team to develop successful product introductions


• Manage pricing structure to optimize profitability, maintain competitiveness, and increase market share


• Strong understanding of new product pricing considerations


• Analyze price sensitivity and competitor pricing data


• Track market share performance (value and volume) for product line


• Conduct analysis of competitor offering, pricing, and positioning to ensure ATG's offering is priced and positioned appropriately to the respective markets/ regions


• Conduct product/market research and analysis to expand current and new product funnels


• Collect, analyze, assess, and report current product sales performance information and provide management recommendations regarding market behavior, trends, and conditions in a timely manner


• Develop and recommend annual and long-range domestic marketing plans, supporting forecasts and budgets to provide reasonable and accurate input for planning and goal setting processes


• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


• Flexibility to travel. Up to 30% travel

The Toolbox (Qualifications)


• Bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, business, engineering, or related field


• 5-7 years of progressive product management experience; new product development and new product introduction experience is preferred


• Experience working with and leveraging a multi-functional and multinational team


• Experience with industrial controls and communication protocols used in industrial manufacturing and assembly environments


• Experience with transducerzied dc electric tightening systems a plus


• Experience executing and participating in the development of an integrated marketing plan


• Experience collecting and analyzing VOC


• Experience analyzing consumer and market research


• Experience with project management and toll-gate processes


• Strong knowledge of the 4 Ps (Product, Place, Promotion, Price)


• Advanced written and verbal communication skills [ability to deliver clear and concise messages]


• Strong analytical skills - proficient use of data to support decision making and solve problems


• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in different stages simultaneously


• Exceptional computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)


• Understanding of distribution customer workflows and go-to-market model


• Understand common product applications and end users


• Understand ongoing customer perceptions of the product line, competition, and brand


• Knowledgeable of features and benefits of current products


• Knowledgeable about commercialization and distribution process


• Understand sales structure and processes to make


• Understand P&L measurements/metrics/objectives
