SUMMARY DESCRIPTION AND SKILLS:

This position is part of our Star Dental team, who manufactures dental handpieces known for our collection and design of high and low-speed air-driven handpieces, electric systems and hygiene handpieces. The Brazing/Laser Welding Operator role is an integral part of the team, as this role performs hand, fixtured and machine brazing, soldering and laser welding operations to assemble company products and component parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform hand, fixtured and machine brazing, soldering and laser welding operations to assemble company products and component parts.
• Use hand-held torches and soldering irons.
• Make minor equipment and fixture adjustments and changes.
• Check parts and products for acceptable operational characteristics, appearance and dimensions.
• Understand your customer's requirements. Meet requirements on time, record/report on performance measures, and all other duties assigned.
• Read and follow established assembly procedures, techniques, drawings, operation sheets and travelers.
• Record production time and all necessary information in the computer.
• Complete paperwork as required and enter transactions in the Oracle computer system.
• May perform work of other classifications and departments as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 6 months to 1 year brazing and laser welding experience
• Knowledge of routine assembly procedures, techniques, testing and measuring equipment is preferred
• Must have mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in using a personal computer, including Windows based applications
• Read, write, and verbally communicate in English
• Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar inventory control system preferred

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to sit, stand and perform repetitive activities for sustained periods of time
• Must possess hand and eye coordination
• Able to operate equipment; lift and move tote pans weight up to 10 pounds; occasionally 35 pounds
• Able to use an eye loupe
