Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
* Develop, test, and execute simulated and on-orbit spacecraft plans and operational procedures
* Design software to analyze and monitor satellite telemetry to assess state of system health
* Support payload subsystem and spacecraft system anomaly investigation
* Collaborate with teams to define the Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
* Develop automated payload operations tools, including test, validation, and simulation software infrastructure
* Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, from requirements definition and design all the way to deployment and maintenance in orbit
* Work closely with software, hardware and systems engineers to support design, build, integration, test, deployment, and operation of high speed optical communication systems
A day in the life
As a Software Engineer on Mission Operations, you will be a member of the Optical Inter-Satellite Link team, focusing on the design, implementation, verification, and test of software and hardware systems for high-speed optical communications. You will be responsible for identifying top level requirements and ensuring high quality and innovative designs are pursued, while also supporting other Project Kuiper colleagues with improving satellite constellation management.

We are looking for an outstanding software engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of top-notch engineers and collaborate closely with the optical, electrical, firmware, and opto-mechanical development teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
