Job Summary The Gharib lab is seeking a motivated individual to work as part of a team to carry out the development of an autonomous catheter system for cardiovascular applications. The work includes all aspects of biomedical device development including design, fabrication of smart materials, shape sensing and implementation of AI for inter-vessel guidance.
Essential Job Duties - Design of catheter systems.
- Selection of biocompatible materials.
- Design of coating material.
- Design of data acquisition electronics.
- Conduct experiments in in vitro vascular models.
- Work with data scientists to develop an AI-cased system for guidance and control of the Catheter.
- A highly motivated and qualified candidate may develop independent projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications - PhD degree in medical engineering with an emphasis on mechanical design.
- Must have good practical experience in all basic medical device applications.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent organization and communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications - A background in cardiovascular research.
- Experience with the mammalian cardiovascular system and related vascular diseases.
