The current base salary range for this position is $70,500-$106,500. 'Off-scale' salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description The Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law conducts research on war crimes and other serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights. Using evidence-based methods and innovative technologies, we support efforts to hold perpetrators accountable and to protect vulnerable populations. We also train students and advocates to research, investigate, and document human rights violations and turn this information into effective action. We are guided by the need to listen to and support survivors, test innovative ideas, draw from multiple disciplines, use rigorous methods, and collaborate. We are hiring a Climate Justice Program Manager to help us launch a Climate Justice program at the Human Rights Center.
Responsibilities:
- Complete year-long project to draft white paper with legal and policy recommendations to better protect the health, safety, and economic livelihood of agricultural workers in mandatory wildfire evacuation zones in Sonoma County and throughout California.
- Expand the timeline and scope of the year-long project to include a narrative survey of the short and long-term impacts of wildfire smoke and other contaminants to the health of agricultural workers and to include best practice for data collection, storage, and sharing to better protect the rights of agricultural workers.
- Help the Climate Justice team set strategy for program growth.
- Based on that strategy, play lead role in implementing new projects to protect the rights of humans affected by climate change events and/or assist with at-risk communities with climate adaptation.
- Represent the Human Rights Center at climate justice related conferences and events.
- Play lead role in developing funding opportunities and developing proposals for additional funding for Climate Justice program. Union Contract : Health and Retirement : Qualifications

- Knowledge and background in climate justice related areas.
- Experience researching, writing, and speaking on climate justice issues
- Prior work experience in the climate justice space.
