Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the NYOS Charter School Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) serves as the highest administrator at NYOS Charter School. The ED is responsible for all aspects of organizational health, including but not limited to: enacting the school’s vision/mission; overseeing the realization of academic goals and outcomes; meeting the school’s fundraising and other financial goals; maintaining strong state academic financial and operations ratings; guiding the school’s professional culture; being accountable to the TEA; and direct management of operations, academics, development, and human resources. The ED is ultimately responsible for the execution of all programs and procedures in alignment with the school’s mission and vision with input from a broad range of constituents. This is a full-time, exempt, at-will position. The ED reports directly to the Board of Directors. The ED supervises the Chief of Schools, the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Human Resources Development Manager, and the Assistant to the ED.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Extensive working knowledge of the State of Texas and federal laws and regulations relating to charter school administration, finances, and personnel matters
A master's degree in educational administration, business, or a related field
Texas Superintendent Certification or willing to obtain
Three years experience as a superintendent or senior executive, preferably at a charter school or traditional public school
Three years of experience where primary duties included fiscal operational oversight and planning, organizing, and directing the work of employees
Superior oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in educational administration, business, or a related field
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with the Texas Education Agency, NYOS staff, parents, vendor partners, philanthropists, lenders, elected officials, and the community at large
Extensive working knowledge of Texas and federal laws relating to education and charters
Demonstrated ability in fostering a collaborative environment, team building, and application of situational leadership techniques
Demonstrated ability to procure funding in support of safe, effective, and efficient school operations
Demonstrated ability in a continuous improvement process, including change management and systems theory
