Mandarin Instructional Assistant (School Year 2024-2025)

Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through both English and language immersion in their choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian (depending on the school). GVA is truly a "global village." Summary:

Under the direction of a professional teacher, this position is responsible for assisting the teacher in the classroom, working with small groups or one on one, helping prepare for activities and supervision of students during activities, monitoring students in non-classroom settings, assisting in administration of tests, helping with planning and presentation of assigned lessons, helping with bulletin boards, newsletters, etc. Some IA's may assist their lead teacher with translation and/or verbal communication using the Mandarin language skills when possible.

Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred; minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
• English language skills required.
• Oral and written fluency in Mandarin required.

Essential Duties:

• Facilitate and/or monitor small group and one-on-one instruction of students
• Help maintain and update records of students
• Help plan and present lessons
• Monitoring students in non-classroom setting
• Help prepare instructional materials for use in class or "pull-out" sessions
• Help secure supplies, materials and equipment and maintain order
• Attend job-related in-services
• Help administer scheduled testing
• Additional duties as requested
