Job description
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced individual for the role of Medical Coding Quality Analyst. In this position, you will play a key role in the development, creation, and management of content and data for various aspects of the healthcare revenue stream, including coding, billing, auditing, risk adjustment, and compliance. The Medical Coding Quality Analyst will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and quality in coding tools, data, and content, such as crosswalks, data sets, and guideline references.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
Conduct thorough research and quality checks on medical coding data, including code crosswalks, scrubber logics, and more.
Perform quarterly and annual quality and functionality reviews of data updates and online tool performance.
Assist in code reviews for products, including books and coding reference charts.
Provide constructive feedback and innovative ideas for data and tool updates.
Conduct coding subject matter expert (SME) reviews for content products as required.
Collaborate with AAPC department heads and product owners on various projects.
Lead and collaborate with a diverse group of subject matter experts on different projects.
Offer sales support through emails and calls, providing coding expertise when needed.
Stay informed about subject matter developments and industry trends to contribute strategies for developing and improving content/data.
Actively participate in medical coding team meetings and decisions.
Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant coding and auditing experience, preferably in several specialties.
Pro-fee, outpatient facility, and inpatient experience is desirable.
CPC, CCS, COC, or other coding credential required; CPMA and/or multiple coding credentials preferable.
Demonstrated ability to pass coding tests.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
Flexibility and adaptability; ability to switch projects and handle change.
Strong attention to detail and an excellent team player.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines.
Critical thinking skills to determine the best method for completing tasks.
Willingness to take risks, problem-solving mindset, and a solution-oriented approach.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with OneDrive and SharePoint is a plus.
Willingness to work extra hours if needed.
Experience working with remote/international teams is an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
