If so, nice to meet you! Mitsubishi Advanced Materials Division is seeking a Project Manager based in Mesa, AZ to join a team committed to excellence, continuous improvement and driving sustainable business results.

The Project Manager will engage with cross functional project teams to manage work plans, budgets, schedules, resource requirements, technical reports and stage gate communications. Executing projects on time and on budget will require the project manager to creatively design project plans and experiments which may utilize local, remote, and 3 rd party equipment and resources.

MCAM is a manufacturing services company. We service markets including aerospace, medical, semiconductor and other markets. Our capabilities include carbon fiber processing, compounding, molding, extrusion, machining, fabrication, assembly, and inspection. We provide material solutions, engineering support, stock shapes, near net shapes, precision components, and assemblies.

Principal Accountabilities

What You Will Do…

The key deliverable for this position is completing projects on time and on budget. The MTC is a new organization with new business processes still under development. There will be opportunities for clearly defined quick win projects, and challenges with complex multi-material innovations. The detailed responsibilities include:

Planning: Create project budgets, work breakdown structures, resource plans, rough order estimates, task prioritization, and monitoring and integration plans for multiple technical engineering projects

+ Interview principle investigators, resource managers, project engineers, technicians, and management to analyze the needs, define requirements, and outline the technical approach

+ Assess competencies, capabilities, resources, and financials required for the projects

+ Choose course of action which best balances project requirements, scope, technical and cost risks, schedules, and stakeholder expectations

+ Analyze and recommend materials, equipment, and best practices

+ Design projects for compliance with company polices, best practices, and industry standards and specifications

Execution: Schedule, coordinate, and supervise experiments, modeling, analysis, and production trials according to project plan

+ Interface with project submitters and suppliers to develop and procure raw materials

+ Design experiments to test critical project hypotheses efficiently

+ Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to complete experiments safely and on schedule

+ Facilitate analytical testing through internal QC and 3rd party labs with advice from R&D and application experts

Communication:

+ Prepare periodic progress and cost reports and/or other program documentation for management and the Steering Committee

+ Work closely with management of the R&D, Engineering, Operations and Quality departments to maintain alignment on project plans and needed resources

+ Serve as a liaison across external suppliers, research partners, and internal company stakeholders

+ Analyze results and extract concise insights from data for non-specialist audience

What You Will Have…

+ Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering) or other related engineering discipline and 5 years of industry experience

+ Project Management experience

+ Experienced in Stage-gate Product Development processes

+ Experienced in Design of Experiments, planning, and reporting processes

+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficient in MS Office Suite

+ Critical thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Self-starter and capable of working autonomously

+ Independent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines

+ Experience with engineering estimating and proposal development

+ Substantial knowledge of composite materials, processing and applications

Even Better If You Have…

+ Certified Associate in Project Management ( CAPM ) or Project Management Professional ( PMP )

+ Experience with solid modeling in CAD such as Solidworks, Dassault CATIA , Siemens NX

+ Experience with polymer and composite material modeling and simulation and FEA analysis

+ Proficient with statistical analysis and use of statistical tools such as Design for Six Sigma

+ Experience with composite materials testing and characterization

+ Experience in collaborating with academic institutions, government laboratories, and industrial research consortiums

+ Personal network of analytical, prototype, and design experts – academic or professional

+ Exposure to the automotive & mobility industry and certification protocols such as the Production Part Approval Process ( PPAP )

+ Knowledge of defect and failure analysis methods and technologies
