General Requirements:

BA I: Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, business, or related field from an accredited institution with one-year relevant experience desirable, or two years of higher education with two years of related experience required. Professional development certifications preferred. Certification examples include: Information Technology Infrastructure Library ( ITIL ) Foundation, Six Sigma Green Belt, International Institute of Business Analysis ( IIBA ). A combination of education, experience, certifications, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs. BA II: Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, business, or related field from an accredited institution with two years relevant experience in directly related field, or two years of higher education and four years of related experience required. History of professional growth as evidenced by the acquisition of professional development and certification. Certification examples include: Information Technology Infrastructure Library ( ITIL ) Foundation, ITIL Intermediate, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Certification of Competency in Business Analysis ( CCBA ), Project Management Institute Certified Associate in Project Management ( PMI CAPM ). A combination of education, experience, certifications, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs. An ability to comprehend business requirements. Capacity to embrace mentorship, time management abilities, and a focus on meeting client needs and deadlines. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.


BA III : Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, business, or related field from an accredited institution. Three years' relevant experience in a directly related field is required. Expertise in eliciting and documenting business requirements through use cases, user stories, and other means (including workflow diagrams, dataflow diagrams, screen wireframes, and other similar artifacts). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs. Capable of unpacking ambiguous business requirements with excellent prioritization, time management abilities, and a focus on execution. Able to lead priorities, timelines and deadlines effectively and proactively. Solid understanding of Agile/iterative product development methodology. A combination of education, experience, certifications, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

BA I: Works as part of a team that actively communicates with clients, gathers basic requirements, generates process-level documentation, and gains a knowledge of IT processes. Embraces professional development to acquire knowledge and certifications to support the role.

BA II: Seeks to understand the campus business ecosystem. Actively collaborates with business analyst team, project managers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements. Works as part of a team to promote client communications, gathering requirements, generating process-level documentation. Actively identifies process improvements and technology needs of campus.


BA III : Seeks to deeply understand the campus business ecosystem, the organization's overall product and development efforts, and how value flows through the organization to students. Actively collaborates with business analyst team, project managers, analysts, UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and acts as the interface and advocate between the business and development teams. Conducts interviews, workshops, and observations with campus functional teams and software system owners to develop and continuously improve processes and workflows. Proactively identifies process and technology needs of campus, gathers complex requirements, and assists with project prioritization.

BA IV: Seeks to deeply understand the campus business ecosystem, the organization's overall product and development efforts, and how value flows through the organization to students. Actively collaborates with the business analyst team, project managers, analysts, UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and acts as the interface and advocate between the business and development teams. Proactively identifies process and technology needs of campus, gathers complex requirements, and assists with project prioritization. Will be a mentor of champion technology and process improvements to support the business analyst team, serve as a lead for campus divisions and, develop and present complex business processes.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

BA I: Gather information from users and define work problems. Gain understanding of functional process requirements for projects in support of current applications. Collaborates with functional and Campus Products and Relationships staff to generate process-level documentation. Works with Business Analyst team members to coordinate end-user testing, create related documentation and process maps, and to ensure efficiency improvements. Develops an understanding of fundamental business processes for a given area. Translate technical requirements to functional staff members in an effective manner. Work within a team to understand and assess campus needs in order to provide effective, customer-centric solutions. Review training materials and evaluate relevance to training needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

BA II: Analyzes business problems and gathers information from users. Develops a strong understanding of functional process requirements for projects and in support of current applications. Elicits requirements from functional processes for projects and in support of current applications. Collaborates with functional and Campus Products and Relationships staff to generate process-level documentation. Works to discover functional area needs with other Campus Products and Relationships staff to create functional requirements. Works with Senior Business Analyst members to coordinate end-user testing, create related documentation and process maps, and to ensure efficiency improvements. Develops a solid understanding of fundamental business processes for a given area. Translate technical requirements to functional staff members in an effective manner. Work within a team to understand and assess campus needs in order to provide effective, customer-centric solutions. Review training materials and evaluate relevance to training needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

BA III : Analyzes business or scientific problems for resolution through electronic data processing. Gathers information from users and defines work problems. Elicits requirements from complex functional processes for projects and in support of current applications. Collaborates with functional and Campus Products and Relationships staff to generate complex process-level documentation. Works to discover functional area needs with other Campus Products and Relationships staff to create functional requirements and priorities. Coordinates end-user testing, creates related documentation and process maps, and ensures programs and reports function efficiently. Determines needs and develops test plans for campus applications and services. Develops a comprehensive understanding of fundamental business processes for a given area. Identifies project tasks and needs for projects in which Campus Products and Relationships is a stakeholder. Coordinates with other Campus Products and Relationships staff in determining solution specifications. Translates technical requirements to functional staff members in an effective manner. Works within a team to understand and assess campus needs in order to provide effective, customer-centric solutions. Responds to, assesses, and troubleshoots issues in collaboration with others in order to provide solutions. Reviews training materials and evaluates appropriateness to training needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

BA IV: Analyzes business or scientific problems for resolution through electronic data processing. Gathers information from users and defines work problems. Possesses a strong understanding of critical business processes for a given area and demonstrates good process investigation and mapping skill. Leads efforts in designing solutions as well as assisting other Campus Products and Relationships staff in designing solutions. Responds to, assesses, and troubleshoots issues in collaboration with others in order to provide solutions. Evaluates functional area needs and establishes training material development schedules, reviews training materials, and conducts training for other staff members. Performs other related duties as assigned.
