Key responsibilities include managing the Donor Relations acknowledgement and receipting process for major gift donors, including content creation and administration; writing and developing stewardship materials for donors and CHLA leadership, such as impact reports, custom donor correspondence and event communications; participating in cross-departmental conversations related to donor communications, strategies and brand alignment; maintaining communications and stewardship records in CHLA’s Blackbaud CRM database; keeping up-to-date of industry best practices in development communications; and other communications and administrative responsibilities as they arise.
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Donor Relations, Stewardship and Special Events team helps ensure timely, accurate, and appropriate donor relations, stewardship and events activity in collaboration with our Foundation colleagues. We support the Foundation’s strategic engagement and stewardship of constituents via donor communications and stewardship projects to advance Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ mission. The Communications Specialist works collaboratively with institutional stakeholders (Nursing, Medical Staff, Information Services, Clinical Services, Finance, Facilities/Security, Foundation, etc.) to co-develop and implement communication strategies and tactics (copy, print, digital, video, etc.) to support enterprise initiatives and key organizational goals. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of paid experience creating and implementing communications and/or media tactics and campaigns in a matrixed organization required. Experience in an academic or health care setting preferred.
SKILLS:
· Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Excel), as well; familiarity with project management platforms (such as Adobe Workfront).
· Strong people and project management skills, the ability to define success criteria, identify project risks, opportunities and core stakeholders and effectively adhere to timelines and changing priorities.
· Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills with superior attention to detail and ability to organize complex information into cohesive communications.
· Analytical abilities that demonstrate identifying challenges and developing effective resolutions in a fast-paced, strategic marketing organization.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor’s degree required (preferred in communications, journalism, English, organizational development, change management or related discipline).
