Title:Sanitation Safety & Health Director  

Location: West Region  

 

Duties:  

 

The Sanitation Safety and Health Director, in conjunction with Operations Management, shall provide  

safety support, counsel and direction for:  

 

• Champion and drive the Company’s Zero Severe Injury Vision and Safety Is a Condition mindset.  

• Safety compliance and injury/illness prevention programs for the Sanitation process.  

• In conjunction with the Occupational Health Director, oversee the Occupational Health function (Medical Case Management, OSHA Recordkeeping, etc.) for the Sanitation process within each assigned complex.  

• In coordination with Corporate Rick Management and our Third Party Administrator (TPA), provide active workers compensation case management.  

• Through the Complex Safety and Health Managers and Operations Management Teams, oversee and insure the communication, coordination and execution of Pilgrim’s safety strategies.  

 

The Sanitation Safety Director shall be responsible for providing safety and health support for assigned locations. The Sanitation Safety and Health Director will work closely with the Complex Safety and Health Managers, Complex Managers and Head of Operations for their assigned locations. Estimated travel will be approximately fifty percent (50%).  

 

Support: The position has no direct reports.  

 

Reporting: The Sanitation Safety and Health Director reports to the Head of Safety and Health.  

 

Key Performance Indicators:  

• DART Rate  

• Severe Injuries  

• Workers compensation incurred cost  

• Corporate Safety Initiative Compliance  

• Safety Culture  

 

Education:  

• Bachelors/Master’s degree in Safety Engineering/Management or related field with five or more years of industrial experience (prefer food industry) or equivalent experience.  

• Professional certification is a plus.  

 

Skills Required:  

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

• Excellent organizational skills.  

• Extensive knowledge in the areas of Workers Compensation, OSHA, DOT, etc. is essential.  

• Excellent computer skills.  

• Bi-lingual capabilities would be a plus.
