State of Arkansas Position Information Class Code: U029U Grade: SE01 FLSA Status: EXEMPT Salary Range: $108,110.00 - $147,200.00SummaryThis position is responsible for planning and directing the development, delivery, and administration of the educational and residential life programs and services of the school. The Superintendent is responsible for establishing a residential and community environment conducive to learning and to the social/emotional development of children who are deaf/hard of hearing, multiple-handicapped, and who are enrolled in specialized parent-infant, preschool, elementary, secondary, and pre-vocational programs. The Superintendent reports to and advises the five-member Board of Trustees and directs and coordinates all business, facilities management, and community relations activities. The Superintendent is knowledgeable in current best practices in deaf education, consults on educational and technological issues associated with the growth and development of children who are deaf/hard of hearing. The Superintendent values recent valid research, and is flexible to make changes to improve instructional practices. The Superintendent must have proven performance as a collaborative/cooperative leader, strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to motivate and empower staff to perform at a high level, and be a proven problem solver. The Superintendent must have strong networking skills, the ability to connect with State policy makers, and a high level of visibility on campus and within the community. Must have four (4) years teaching experience with, preferably, Building Level or Curriculum/Program Administrator experience. Must obtain Superintendent certification. Must hold an Advanced Degree or have completed an Advanced Program of Study reflective of the Arkansas Standards for District Level Administrator.
