GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under limited supervision, this position will perform a variety of tasks related to general office work, verifying documentation of construction projects, and performing some field inspections.

- Performs basic engineering calculations.
- Determines compliance with specifications.
- Aids in the review of plan drawings and details for highway construction plans.
- Participates in mobility reviews of active work zones on construction projects throughout the state.
- Maintains project records.
- Aid in the collection of traffic data as needed. Place machine counters at spot locations to collect traffic speed and volume data. Download and compile the data for inclusion in traffic studies.
- Aid in maintaining and updating traffic-related data in the Cartegraph database.
- Assist with the establishment of no passing barriers statewide.

High School Diploma and 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Construction and Field Surveying)

Preference may be given to applicants with 0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Construction and Field Surveying)'
Preference may be given to applicants with experience with general traffic engineering and/or road construction experience.
**Valid Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE: - Knowledge of computers and calculators.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Potentially exposed to hazardous waste and biological waste.
- Working around high-speed traffic and heavy construction equipment.
- Work outdoors in a variety of inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, snow, and wet.
- Physical Ability: Bending, stooping, and lifting up to fifty pounds; safely lifting and moving necessary materials from one point to another; ability to stand for long periods.
