Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced R&D Technician to provide support to our engineering teams driving development, implementation, and management of various R&D projects. Work independently and cross-functionally to collect, organize, and interpret R&D support requests and perform them with a high degree of accuracy. The ideal candidate will also play a crucial role in optimizing the operational efficiency of the R&D department by managing operating expenses, creating and tracking purchase requisitions and purchase orders, coordinating R&D shipments and receipts, material management, and other R&D support functions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations, drive efficiencies, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts on area work processes to support the overall success of our business unit.
Responsibilities: - Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance on managing quarterly R&D operating expenses-collecting forecasts, reviewing liabilities, and monitoring actual spend to ensure adherence to financial plans.
- Analyze and report on variances, providing insights and recommendations for cost optimization.
- Manage R&D purchase requisitions and purchase orders for components, assembly and test, wafers, tooling, outsourced R&D work, lab services, etc. working closely with engineers, vendors, and procurement teams for on-time deliveries, invoice processing, and PO closure.
- Work closely with suppliers/vendors to negotiate favorable terms, collect competitive bids, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services needed for R&D projects.
- Work with suppliers/vendors and internal teams to get quotes, to process receipts and invoices in the system, to resolve shipment or invoice discrepancies, and for closure of open PO balances.
- Coordinate, oversee, and track shipments and receipts of wafer lots, assembly items, test equipment, and other items to help drive latest R&D projects or milestones to completion.
- Implement R&D material management and inventory controls, including processes to review excess and obsolescence for potential scrap and write off.
- Work with vendors to generate RMAs for failure analysis, test equipment loaners, or evaluation boards; coordinate the return shipment, and negotiate costs for any repairs or returns.
- Assist R&D engineers with tracking and processing capital assets (lab equipment, testers, etc) in the system.
Qualifications: - Minimum 6+ years experience in service, manufacturing or R&D.
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Proven experience in business operations management, preferably in an R&D or technology-driven environment.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, shipping logistics, and capital asset management.
- Proficient in GSuite (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides) or MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
- Experience in ERP systems (like Oracle)
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
Additional Job Description: Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is $31.29 - $44.70 per hour.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents.
