Overview



Performing Arts Services , a division of Campus Support Services, provides a broad range of event, performance, and venue support services for the Princeton University community including front of house, guest services, ticketing, logistics, venue management, and production support. The Performing Arts Services division oversees Richardson Auditorium, Lewis Arts complex, the Frist Theater and University Ticketing and provides support for performance spaces across campus.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

A member of the Performing Arts Services division of Campus Support Services, the Senior Venue Manager for the Lewis Arts complex provides a broad range of venue, performance, event, and class support and services for the University community. The Senior Manager serves as the lead for the Universityâ™s major arts hub, the Lewis Arts complex; provides oversight of funding and support planning for special arts projects and department-wide production support; and provides operational support for major convocations and high-profile events across campus.

As the venue lead for the Lewis Arts complex, the Senior Venue Manager, oversees a team of professional and student staff providing facility management and support for gathering spaces, classes, and events.

As the facilities lead, the Senior Venue Manager serves as the main contact for all needs in the Lewis Arts complex. The Senior Venue Manager and staff work closely with the tenants of the building and campus support partners to address and coordinate facility needs, scheduling, building access, deliveries, custodial services, management of the loading dock, mail services, accessibility accommodations, and manages maintenance and upkeep. The Senior Venue Manager oversees continuous communications to the departments, users, and support teams on events, campus impact and special projects, and leads a quarterly meeting of the arts council. The Senior Venue Manager is the lead approver for use of non-departmental spaces.

With expertise in arts programming and patron experience, the Senior Venue Manager works collaboratively with the Lewis Center for the Arts, Department of Music, and additional departments across campus to develop and implement front of house and production support plans for events in the Lewis Arts complex. The Senior Venue Manager is responsible for events in the buildingâ™s shared spaces, the Forum (a large open event space connecting the theaters underground) and the Colab (a smaller modular room off of the Forum), and collaborates on supplemental support, by request, for other spaces, including the Lee Rehearsal Room, Drapkin Dance Studio, and Wallace Theater. The Senior Venue Managerâ™s team provides front of house oversight and support for all events in the space. In addition, the Senior Venue Manager coordinates supplemental production support. The Senior Venue Manager will support the needs of University Ticketing, who operates a central box office on the plaza level, and event box office in the forum level. The Senior Venue Managerâ™s team will assist with logistics and communications for box office distributions.

The Senior Venue Manager oversees special funding for the arts on campus, which was established to support students and departments outside of the arts programs with special projects, events in non-traditional spaces, and events needing supplemental labor and/or equipment. The Senior Venue Manager is responsible for convening a committee to vet all requests to make sure they align with intent of the program. The Senior Venue Manager is responsible the budget allocation, tracking, and distributions of funds.

The Senior Venue Manager serves as the Campus Support Services lead for managing special arts projects across campus. The Senior Venue Manager serves as a resource and partner to departments and students, providing leadership for the development and implementation of projects. The Senior Venue Manager will provide counsel on best practices, assisting with front of house, venue setup, and production planning. The Senior Venue Manager works closely with campus partners in Facilities, Public Safety, ODUS, and the Graduate School to coordinate support for special projects.

In support of Lewis Arts complex and special events across campus, the Senior Venue Manager coordinates and oversees all supplemental production support needs for the Campus Support Services department. The Senior Venue Manager reviews requests, works closely with users to understand needs and develop support teams, and then arranges and oversees staff to provide the supplemental support.

The Senior Venue Manager provides leadership and operational support for major campus events. The Senior Venue Manager serves in a production leadership role for University convocations, including Commencement, Baccalaureate, Class Day, and Opening Exercises, as well as the major annual event for University Services, the Rewards and Recognition Ceremony.

Working in concert with the service team, the Venue Manager fosters excellent relationships with the students and departments across campus ensuring the needs of the supported groups and programs are met and the support is delivered with best-in-class service.

The principal duties and responsibilities of the Senior Venue Manager include the ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing needs, able to work autonomously and with initiative, and be adept at problem solving. The Senior Venue Manager must interact effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside the University, and develop a support team that is cooperative, collaborative, responsive, and pro-active.

The Venue Manager reports to the Associate Director of Performing Arts Services. The Senior Venue Manager supervises two Venue Associates, casuals, and a student worker team.
