Position Summary


Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the District Lead Nurse is responsible for overseeing the individual health needs of students; implementing healthcare plans directed by physicians; ensuring district healthcare practices comply with the laws relating to student health issues; providing appropriate immediate care for ill, medically fragile and injured students; and serving as a health care resource to teachers, staff, and administrators; conducting mandated health screenings and identifying health problems for referral to appropriate parties for proper follow-up treatment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


Duties are to be performed in accordance with the standards of professional


school nurse practice, district/state board of education policies and procedures, and Illinois State


law regarding nursing practice.


Administration:

Clinical Practice: Immunizations, physical examinations, vision, dental and medical conditions .Supervision: Teaching/Training: pathogens, CPR Certification Training, the district exposure plan, allergy response, seizure emergencies,


diabetes management, asthma, and other health conditions that may impact the


school community.


Communications: personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the


health and safety needs of children health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of


the school community Special Education evaluation, and placement of students into the Individual Problem Solving


process (IPS/RTI), 504 plan, and/or Special Education programs accommodations due to a health deficit need special nursing interventions during the school day


Professional Development organizations and utilizes continuing education opportunities to enhance


professional knowledge in both nursing and education fields. Activities health/wellness. Create and maintain a health webpage on the district's website that provides information: Required Education: Certifications and Licenses: Required Experience/ Qualifications Mental health nursing and health program management Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
