Job Description:

As a Part-Time Weekend Shift Coordinator at Foundations for Living, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility during the weekends. You will provide essential support to our existing Shift Coordinators by overseeing the weekend shifts, specifically during peak hours when our residents are actively engaged in their daily treatment programming. You will work in conjunction with an additional Full-Time Shift Coordinator to ensure comprehensive coverage and support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Weekend Support: Work every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM to provide weekend coverage and support.

2. Program Oversight: Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure that residents are actively engaged in their daily treatment programming during your shift.

3. Staff Supervision: Assist in overseeing the staffing on duty during the weekends, ensuring proper staffing ratios and adherence to established protocols, alongside the Full-Time Shift Coordinator.

4. Crisis Management: Be prepared to handle crisis situations that may arise during your shift, working closely with other staff members and following established procedures.

5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of incidents, observations, and any notable developments during your shift.

6. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the Shift Coordinator Supervisor, Full-Time Shift Coordinator, and other team members to ensure a cohesive and supportive working environment.

7. Resident Interaction: Interact with residents in a compassionate and supportive manner, helping to create a safe and therapeutic atmosphere.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

• Previous experience working in a residential treatment facility, group home, or similar setting is highly desirable.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed during high-stress situations.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and experience working with at-risk youth is a plus.

• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or related mental health field and one year experience working with troubled youth.  High School diploma and four years experience may be substituted where allowed by contracting authority.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid State Drivers License with appropriate Endorsements
• Certified in CPR and First Aid

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals, or governmental regulations. 
• Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Additionally, must have basic computer knowledge that includes email/internet usage, Word and Excel.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Elementary use of computer spreadsheet programs.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use fingers or hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of resident and staff

Therapeutic Hold

• The Milieu Coordinator may be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized hold procedures as a last resort for protection of resident and staff.

Work Environment

• The work environment for this position is a residential facility setting.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self- destructive behaviors.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, and may be subject to occasional local travel as required by facility needs.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
